"Girls in the Garage" was an event dedicated to helping women learn more about basic car maintenance.
The idea was brought to Kevin Hurley, the owner of Mission Viejo Transmission by Cheryl Carrera, a local realtor. She approached Kevin and simply asked if he and his team would be willing to teach about eight of her clients, all women, about routine checkup's, such as checking fluid levels and tire pressure.
From there, the idea completely took flight. After months of preparation and advertising, March 28th rolled around. Never holding an event such as this, the whole team was skeptical about how successful it was really going to be.
The girls kept pouring into the garage! With an ending head count of 83 women in total, the team labeled the event as a huge success. The night consisted of stations in which the girls had to perform the routine checks successfully while being observed by a Mission Viejo Transmission team member. They were given a bracelet to then proceed to the next station.
Surrounded by amazing food, beverages and even cocktails, the ladies were in great company with each other while gaining knowledge about their cars.
Over $2,000 worth of gifts that were all donated, were raffled off. Some of the items being brand new Oakley sunglasses, jumper cables, mace, car accessories, and even a large, beautiful bouquet of flowers.
Everyone left with a goodie bag, including oil change gift certificates, tire pressure gauges and more!
